Pradyumna Rameshchandra Vyas
President, World Design Organization (WDO)Professor Pradyumna Vyas previously served as Director of the National Institute of Design (NID), India. He currently acts as Senior Design Advocacy & Innovation Advisor at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and is a member of the Board of Governors of the World Design Organization (WDO).
Professor Vyas has long served as the principal of a design practice. Throughout his distinguished career, he has earned numerous national and international honours and enjoys wide acclaim in the industry. For his contribution to the establishment of India’s Design Commission, he was nominated by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, as the first Secretary-General of the National Design Commission of India in 2009. He held this post until his retirement from the National Institute of Design in 2019.
During his tenure as Director of NID, he secured the status of a National Importance Institute for NID through an Act of Parliament. He assisted the Government of India in setting up four new NID campuses nationwide. Via India’s National Design Commission, he partnered with the Japan Design Promotion Organization (JDP) to launch the India Design Mark under the Good Design Award (G-Mark).
