Lou Yongqi, President of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Academic Leader of Design Discipline at Tongji University, Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and the only Chinese Honorary Doctor of the Royal College of Art (RCA) to date.

He currently serves as Chairman of China Creative Studies Institute and Chairperson of the National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education in Design. He has long been committed to social innovation and sustainable design practice, education and research. He applies “design-driven innovation” to urban-rural interaction, industrial transformation, innovative education, community development, policy research and many other fields.

Since 2022, he has served as Creative Director of the World Design Capital. In 2024, he authored the entry for “Design” in the new edition of the Enciclopedia Italiana. In 2025, he acted as Chief Curator for the China Pavilion at the Triennale di Milano. In 2026, he serves as Chief Curator for the Shanghai Industrial Museum.
